Well, another summer is about to morph into falling leaves, cooler temperatures and church folk, hopefully gathering back into a more settled and faithful walk with and worship of our Lord.  Summer so often gets busy with vacations (and they are necessary) and now days kids going back to school!  What is with that?  We never went back until after Labor Day and look how well we old folk turned out!!  Jeremiah wrote;

    <em>

      “…summer is ended, and we are not saved.” (Jer. 8:20b).

    </em>

    I realize this statement may not speak of being saved like we think and know about, but it can be a call to get back to soul-winning, witnessing and getting the Gospel out, as folk need to be saved everywhere. Let’s go soul-winning!

                    I am truly grateful to the churches and individuals that support our work for Christ. I preached in two churches in Michigan the first of this month and have been consumed with editing and preparing two new books for publication since, hopefully getting them to the publisher for distribution by Christmas. One is my last of four daily devotionals, …THE DAY FOLLOWING; and the other is a collaboration with another preacher entitled, THE CRUMBS WHICH FALL… Oh, and I do have to mow my lawn, pay my bills, fix this and that; all while being a good husband to Sandy, my wife now of over 54 years, as of, August 8! The latter, I am still learning and hope to be.

                    The work of God is such a monumental task that I sometimes wonder why the Lord left it up to mere man. Angels would be more holy, lions would be more intimidating, swans would be more beautiful…He chose us! Witnessing for Christ when the multiple opportunities present themselves is a great privilege and holy responsibility. I was preaching this month at a wonderful church in southern Alabama. During the invitation I saw something I hadn’t seen in quite a while, a young lady with tears flowing down her face in about the third row, on the aisle; I sought for someone to come talk to her and soon she was at the altar and trusting Christ as Saviour! Her sister also came that morning and was saved. O God! Do it again and again and again!

<div data-rss-type="text">
  <p>

                    To express my appreciation monthly is also a rare privilege afforded this preacher. Gratefulness is in the depth of my soul for those of you that invest in this faith ministry God has entrusted to me. The churches and individuals that help us are on my prayer list and an integral part of my prayer life. By the way, I thank God for your prayers the weekend of July 20-22. The airports were absolutely a mess!! I even caught some kind of crud or cold while mingling with thousands of unhappy airport bums!

                    I am working feverishly on two new books; one is at the printer now and the other is heading that way. I also just finished up the Nov/Dec Baptist Bread. Please pray for Sandy and this preacher. At seventy-five years young I don’t think I’ve ever been so busy!

  <p>

                    I just got home from preaching in two meetings in two churches in Georgia and Tennessee border towns. One blessed event was the surrender of a young couple to go to Laos as missionaries. The wife is Laotian and her pastor husband told me the decision was mutual and much anticipated. Thank God He is still sending men and women to the nations of the world. His Word and His men can effectively reach people with His Gospel. This old world is definitely in need of God’s saving grace! By the way, I am home for just twenty-four hours and off to Florida and Michigan to close out the month of June! Yes, I am tired…hey, I’ve never been this old before!

                    I am so grateful for those who help us monthly, bi-monthly or whenever they can, I consider your gifts as from the hand of our dear Lord. I am burdened for the churches of America and the lethargy of Laodicean proportions that seems to have permeated many congregations since the Covid mess. May God help us to get back on the firing line for our Lord in these last days.

                    It is an interesting life on the ‘revival trail’ for over 48 years. I have seen some real services, where it seemed the Lord’s presence was evident and exceeding in blessing the entire environment. Other times His hand seems to be withheld, perhaps for some ‘sin in the camp’ or things not being done ‘decently and in order.’ Often His presence is felt in the quiet moving of the Holy Spirit, touching lives and changing hearts. Oh, and not as often as I would like in recent years, a lost soul coming to Christ in true repentance and being born again for all time and eternity. I do believe that in our day we have grieved and quenched the Holy Ghost to the point of near spiritual apostacy. May God grant us real revival and a holy desire to please the Lord in all we do, say and think.

                    Well, another busy month is nearly behind me, I am closing out the days in Stanwood, Iowa in revival meetings. The church is very small but I have never let the size of anything be the determining factor in where the Lord sends me to preach. Size does matter when it comes to shoes, fish and deer! I am just grateful that God will use someone like me in His work, winning souls, and all, I trust for His ultimate glory!

                    I am grateful for those that God has blessed; to be a blessing to Sandy and me. We are still in love with one another and she has gone to a couple meetings recently that I drive to (she doesn’t think I can stay awake on my own or find my way home…I guess!) Sadly, she is probably right, I have never been this old before! I sincerely praise the Lord for all of you and you are in my prayers.

                    I will be in Georgia and North Carolina the first couple weeks in May. Thank God it is May, even though, our winter was pretty cushy! The balance of the month will be filled with getting the September/October issue of the Baptist Bread to the printer and a few days of relaxing…I hope. A preacher friend and I are, have been writing a couple books we are publishing soon and that takes lots of my time. Your prayers are coveted and greatly appreciated.

    </em>

    Though this is a wonderful Old Testament Psalm, it reverberates with the blessing of forgiveness purchased on Calvary by our Lord Jesus Christ in New Testament times. The shout from Calvary and the triumph of the tomb both proclaim the forgiveness of sin and a new life in Christ Jesus. Hallelujah!

                    March has been filled with three weeks of meetings (and a week of editing the July/August issue of the Baptist Bread; and I am on my way to Arizona to preach over the Easter weekend…to those of us truly converted to Christ, every Sunday is a celebration of the resurrection of Jesus Christ! Really, every day is a resounding, Amen, to the truth of the death, burial and resurrection of our Lord. April is takes me from Florida to Michigan and a couple other states in between, busy; yes, and thankful to be in the service of our dear Saviour.

                    Thank you very much for your help in getting the Gospel to folk and also, preaching to revive the saints! Sometimes I think it is more difficult to revive our churches than to see folk converted to Christ. May God bless you richly for your kindness to Sandy and this evangelist.
